Who we are

Hi, my name is AJ Amrhein and I am the founder of the Refinery Movement!

The Refinery Movement was founded in June 2025, and our mission is to make the church healthy again - by building up women mentally, physically, and spiritually in their walk with Jesus Christ and coaching them to help steward everything they have been blessed with - including our amazing temple - our bodies.

The fitness industry has become a little dark; especially on social media. It is sexualized, shallow, promotes undereating, and comparison. And I have not been perfect and actually fell to the ways of the world for a little bit. But, as Ephesians 6 says, “we don’t fight against flesh and blood, but of the dark forces of the spiritual world…” So I want to fight for what God has put on my heart. I want to swing my sword, and use the gifts God has given me for good!

You can find my full testimony on The Refinery Movement Podcast - but long story short, I was a Division 1 athlete at Baylor University, then I was recruited by WWE and wrestled for them for 3 years after college. Always been pretty dang passionate about Jesus, health, and people.

I suffered some injuries in WWE, and while I was recovering, God gave me a clear vision of what was next - so I began building it. 

I knew there was a demand - rather, a CRAVING for a community like the one God gave me the dream of. I worked long days while simultaneously rehabbing my hips and knee, and mentally battling the cut throat & competitive environment I was in. 

The day I was medically cleared, I got a call saying I was being released - two weeks later I launched the Refinery Movement. 

God prepared me for such a time as this. My mission is to share all the wisdom and knowledge I’ve gained through some of the top strength and conditioning coaches in the world, and make it accessible to other women. All while providing it with a biblical discipline foundation. 

And man, it took off. I absolutely can’t believe how much of an impact God has made already through this mission. He is so good!
